The Rallye Monte Lugau was a competition for mopeds brand Simson in southern Brandenburg City Lugau . The race and a subsequent concert for young bands took place every year in August. The last event took place in 2011.

history

The first Monte Lugau in 1994 was organized in the village under the decisive influence of the local mayor. The idea to host the event was inspired by the reporter on the Tipp TV program from the ORB at the time and the popularity of the vehicle. The Monte Carlo Rally served as the namesake .

For the race, a course with obstacles on the main road, the local fairground, and field paths around Lugau was set up in the village . Sonorous names such as cemetery curve and dune straight line should underline the humorous character.

The village was closed for the entire three-hour event. 150 starters and around 2000 spectators were expected, which ultimately established the tradition. Afterwards, the finale took place in the Landei Lugau .

In the following years, the popularity increased, drivers and visitors camped and parked in the meadows and fields around Lugau. The increasing number of visitors in the following ten years meant that the number of sponsors increased, and the radio station Fritz presented a concert in the evening with names unknown at the time, German rock and indie groups. The event then moved in 2004 to a hill about a kilometer away.

71 swallows, twelve SR 2 and eight duos started for the 16th Monte Lugau Rally 2009.

procedure

The winner was determined in the form of a tournament . The drivers of the Simson Duo , Schwalbe and SR2 motorcycles competed on the obstacle course with their own motorcycles. In the races, the winner was determined in the vehicle class named after the type of motorcycle. Six drivers competed against each other per run. After the races, the WENTRA Cup , a show run with no time limit for drivers and vehicles, took place outside of the valuation until 2003 . The course was about one kilometer long and included various combinations of curves, a tree chicane, a mud hole and a skill test that had to be mastered without a motorcycle.

Due to the closed course with the same start and finish point, it was not actually a rally .

concert

In the evening after the races there was a concert by one or more established bands or by young bands. So far these have been Fettes Brot , Mediengruppe Telekommander , Ralley , Six , Wilson Jr. (2006) and Virginia Jetzt! . In the first few years, the concert was presented by the Fritz youth radio .
