List of European protected areas in Vorarlberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Vorarlberg there are 23  Natura 2000 areas ( European protected areas ) with a total area of around 210  km² . The Natura 2000 areas make up around 8% of the area of Vorarlberg .

The Natura 2000 areas in Vorarlberg nature conservation law

Due to the two European nature conservation directives , Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) and the Directive on the conservation of wild birds (Birds Directive, 79/409 / EEC), Austria is obliged to use areas that are for Community environmental protection of the European Union are of interest. These are then considered to be "proposed" ( proposed Site of Community Importance ... pSCI) and are then confirmed by the EU, entered in a joint list and integrated into the Natura 2000 network (as areas of community importance according to the Habitats Directive ... SCI / SAC and as Special Protection Areas according to the Birds Directive… SPA - the latter do not need express confirmation). By June 1995, the member states had to report all areas that could be of common European interest to the European Commission. This was initially done directly by the Länder, in 2003 Austria created a common national list , and in 2004 the first list of areas of common interest came into being Significance in force, and the bird sanctuaries have also been integrated into the Natura 2000 network. A joint list of FFH areas for the Alpine region ( Alpine Convention area ) was decided on January 25, 2004. Since then, the state governments have named individual areas where there is still a need for protection. There are still some Important Bird Areas of BirdLife International without national / community protection, and the community list has been updated several times. There is a regular reporting obligation and the obligation to monitor the protection and development goals of the rooms.

It is then up to the Member States to select suitable protective instruments. In Austria, where nature conservation is regulated at the state level , this is one of the state protection categories . In Vorarlberg, the Natura 2000 areas under the designation European Protected Area are declared under state law as a general protected area according to § 26 Paragraph 4 of the Law on Nature Conservation and Landscape Development :

"Areas which are intended to maintain, develop or restore a favorable conservation status of the habitats of Annex I occurring in them or of the animal and plant species of Annex II of Council Directive 92/43 / EEC of May 21, 1992 or of the bird species occurring in them of Annex I of Directive 79/409 / EEC of the Council of April 2, 1979 are suitable and of Community importance can be declared European protected areas by ordinance of the state government. "

Details are regulated in the 2nd section European protected areas (Natura 2000 areas) §§ 13–15 Nature Conservation Ordinance. Further relevant integrations can be found in the law on operator obligations to protect the environment (LGBl. No. 20/2001), the law on fishing in inland waters ( Fisheries Act, LGBl. No. 47/2000, with implementing ordinance) and the law on Lake Constance fisheries ( Bodenseefischereigesetz LGBl. No. 1/2002).

The Vorarlberg European Protected Areas were all with the Nature Conservation Ordinance i. d. F. 36/2003 declares (Attachment: List of Natura 2000 sites ), only the area Verwall has its own Regulation (56/2003), and the area Soren, Gleggen-Köblern, Swiss Ried and Birch black stuff was to an EU court ruling with 60/2007 extended.
