List of European protected areas in the state of Salzburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the State of Salzburg there are 29  Natura 2000 areas ( European protected areas ) with a total area of 1,080  km² . The Natura 2000 areas make up around 15% of the land area of Salzburg .

The Natura 2000 areas in Salzburg's nature conservation law

Due to the two European nature conservation directives , Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) and the Directive on the conservation of wild birds (Birds Directive, 79/409 / EEC), Austria is obliged to use areas that are for Community environmental protection of the European Union are of interest. These are then considered to be "proposed" ( proposed Site of Community Importance ... pSCI) and are then confirmed by the EU, entered in a joint list and integrated into the Natura 2000 network (as areas of community importance according to the Habitats Directive ... SCI, SAC and as special protection areas according to the Birds Directive ... SPA - the latter do not need express confirmation). By June 1995, the member states had to report all areas that could be of common European interest to the European Commission. This was initially done directly by the federal states, in 2003 Austria created a common national list and in 2004 the first list of areas of Community importance came into being in force, and the bird sanctuaries have also been integrated into the Natura 2000 network. Since then, the state governments have named individual areas where there is still a need for protection.

It is then up to the Member States to select suitable protective instruments. In Austria, where nature conservation is regulated at the state level , this is one of the state protection categories . There is a regular reporting obligation and the obligation to monitor the protection and development goals of the rooms.

European protected areas according to FFH (SCI / GGB) and bird protection guidelines (SPA / BSG)

According to Section 5, line 10 of the Salzburg Nature Conservation Act 1999 (NSchG 1999), the Natura 2000 areas are generally referred to as “European protected areas”. They are regulated in § 22a NSchG European protected areas . Protective provisions are enacted by ordinance of the state government that contain the protective purpose and conservation objectives, as well as the necessary commands and prohibitions - unless "if the area is already adequately protected and the conservation objective is achieved through other measures" (§ 22a Z. 5 ), for example those who are already in the national park or are sufficiently strictly protected as a nature reserve or natural monument .

Wild European Protected Areas (WSG)

In addition to the areas of EU-Community importance determined according to the Fauna, Flora, Habitats and Birds Directive, the Natur 2000 network also offers a framework for other protection categories. In Salzburg there are a number of European Wildlife Protected Areas according to § 108 a Hunting Act , which represent a special form of wildlife biotope protection areas  (§ 108a) and ensure the requirements of the two central EU directives with regard to hunting issues, especially bird protection areas are considered ( e.g. to protect grouse or birds of prey ). In particular, they also serve scientific research measures in the field of wildlife ecology  (§ 108 a Z. 7, according to Art. 18 of the Habitats Directive and Art. 10 of the Birds Directive).
