List of protected parts of the landscape in the Salzburg-Umgebung district

The list of protected parts of the landscape in the Salzburg-Umgebung district contains the protected parts of the landscape in the Salzburg-Umgebung district ( Land Salzburg ). The district is home to a total of 27 protected parts of the landscape, with three protected areas in the municipality of Sankt Gilgen and two each in the municipalities of Elsbethen , Eugendorf , Thalgau and Wals-Siezenheim . The protected parts of the landscape include a wide variety of biotopes, with bodies of water, moorland, meadows, avenues and forests under the protected areas.

The Glasenbachklamm was placed under protection mainly because of its beautiful rock and erosion forms as well as for ecological reasons. However, scientific reasons, the recreational function and species protection also play an important role. The gorge formed by the Klausbach has geological folds, petrified fossils and a damp, cool climate. The predominant plant community is the ravine forest, in the valley floor area there are some riparian forest plants. The protected Hart's Tongue Fern is sometimes found here. 82.82 ha 12/02/1987

The Römerweg was placed under protection mainly because of the aesthetics of the landscape and its cultural and historical significance. According to the authorities, the area should be preserved in a balanced natural way for recreation due to the interplay between the landscape elements of water and forest. The area is home to a striking tree population of 80 to 200-year-old ash, oak, hornbeam, linden and maple trees. Several conglomerate stones have been preserved along the Römerweg, while the Fagerbach stream, which periodically dries out, flows through the northern part of the protected area. 0.29 ha 01/10/2011

The moor meadow is fed by a slope spring and is particularly important for ecology as part of the network of biotopes, as a retention body in the event of heavy rainfall and as a “small-scale” humidifier. It is also important for species protection and the aesthetics of the landscape. The meadow is home to protected plants such as orchids, sundew , flour primrose and gentian. 2.5 ha 03/01/1989

The Wildmoos, located north of the Eibensees landscape protection area, is a typical raised bog with a layer of peat covering several meters. The Wildmoos is home to a very loosely stagnant spruce forest as well as a few pines and firs as well as pine trees. In between there are bog meadows with reeds and small pools. 13.33 ha 11/06/1991

The Orchideenwiese houses occurrence of the helmet boy herb ( orchis militaris ) of broadleaf boys herb ( Dactylorhiza majalis ), the spotted boy herb ( Dactylorhiza maculata ), the two-bladed Waldhyazinthe ( Plata bifolia ), the sump Stendelwurz ( Epipactis palustris ), the large two blade ( Listera ovata ) and the mosquito-handelwort ( Gymnadenia conopsea ). 1.38 ha March 28, 1990

The Lilienwiese is located east of the Königsberg within a closed forest area. The meadow belongs to the Bürmoos complex, which was drained a long time ago and partially reforested or converted into litter meadow. The Falkensteinwand on the north shore of Lake Wolfgang is a hard limestone wall that falls almost vertically into the lake and is around 200 m high and 600 m long. Due to the extreme south-facing location and the reflection of the lake level, the rock face, which is unique for the State of Salzburg, is home to particularly warmth-loving plant species, including three protected species and 13 rare species. 18.67 ha 11/15/1989

Location
The protected area pear and chestnut avenue Thalgau comprises a double-row pear avenue made up of 30 trees and a single-row pear avenue made up of 33 trees in the Pfarrhofallee / Ischlerbahnstraße area. There is also a double-row chestnut avenue on Nikolaus-Gaertner-Weg. The pear avenue consists of several types of cider pear, the chestnut avenue consists of specimens of the common horse chestnut ( Aesculus hippocastanum ). In total, the protected part of the landscape houses 63 pears from the original stock with an age of around 85 years at the time of the study, as well as 24 chestnuts from the original stock (around 85 years old) as well as a replanted pear tree and 15 replanted chestnuts. 0.94 ha 04/29/1981

The Wasenmoos is located in a hollow between the south-eastern slope of the Große Plaicke and the western slope of the Kolomansberg . The Saalach-Altarm natural forest reserve comprises an approximately 2 hectare silver willow meadow ( Salicetum albae ), which also includes gray alder ( Alnus incana ) and black poplar ( Populus nigra ). In addition, the reserve is home to an intact oxbow lake, which is important as spawning and breeding waters for amphibians and dragonflies.
