The avalanche cone, which is undermined by melting, is popularly known as the Eiskeller or "Eiskapelle im Grießbachgraben" and is located in a basin in the northeast slope of the Wieserhörndl . The avalanches crash over the steep walls into the boiler floor. The snow is compressed by the speed of fall and the resulting high pressure on impact. A cone of moraine and debris out of the valley prevents the avalanche snow from being transported away. The landslide from the Plombergstein in St. Gilgen was triggered by the retreat of the Ice Age glaciers and the loss of support. At the foot of it he left a wild chaos of rock masses, the so-called “rock crevices on the Plombergstein”, now surrounded by forest. Individual stone formations were given names based on their location, shape or in memory of special social events, e.g. B. Franzosenloch or T eufelsschlucht .
