The Fuschlsee is located in the Salzkammergut in the Salzburger Land , Austria and is owned by the Österreichische Bundesforste AG .
The lake drains via the Fuschler Ache (later Griesler Ache ) into the Mondsee , and via Attersee , Ager and Traun into the Danube . The lake has excellent water quality and underwater vegetation is exceptionally well preserved in its natural state. The Fuschlseemoor (nature reserve) lies at its north-west end.
On the lake are the villages of Fuschl am See , the municipality of Hof bei Salzburg with Fuschl Castle and the Hallbach district and the Thalgau municipality with the Egg-Hundsmarkt district .
