The Großsee is a mountain lake on the Tauplitzalm in the Dead Mountains in Styria , Austria . The lake is at an altitude of 1567  m above sea level. A. embedded in a hollow between the Schneiderkogel and Traweng . With a water surface of 6.2 hectares, it is the second largest lake on the Tauplitz high plateau . The lake has a length of about 440 meters in a west-east direction with a maximum width of about 190 meters. There is a pumping station for snowmaking and a ski lift on the south bank . The lake can be circled on a hiking trail. Until several meters deep dense grow stoneworts mats with, especially near the shore, dense pondweed stocks, most commonly potamogeton praelongus , besides also pondweed and Potamogeton perfoliatus .
