The Beinn a 'Chlachair is a Munro and Marilyn classified, 1087 meter high mountain in Scotland . Its Gaelic name can be roughly translated as mountain of the stonemason .
It is located in the Council Area Highland in the Grampian Mountains east of Spean Bridge between Loch Laggan and Loch Ericht in the secluded mountainous landscape of the Ardverikie Forest . In total there are three Munros and various other peaks in the Ardverikie Forest . To the south, separated by An Lairig, which is around 500 meters lower, is the mountain range north of Ben Alder .
The Beinn a 'Chlachair is an elongated and massive mountain that runs roughly in the direction from southwest to northeast. To the south-east it has the Garbh Bhruthach, a steep rock- interspersed side that drops for almost two kilometers and several hundred meters into An Lairig . The north-west side also drops off relatively steeply, but not as rocky as the south-east side, the slopes, like the extended summit plateau, are characterized by stony moss and heathland. The north-west side below the main summit is noticeably interrupted by the deeply cut and steep Coire Mòr a 'Chlachair . To the west there is a wide, not very prominent ridge that ends in Ceann Caol Beinn a 'Chlachair . To the east, the Coire Beag a 'Chlachair opens up a second, less steep cirque , between the two cirques the mountain falls flatter to the north to Bealach Leamhain at about 730 meters. To the northeast of this Bealach is the Geal Chàrn .
Many Munro excavators combine an ascent of Beinn a 'Chlachair with the two neighboring Munros Geal Chàrn and Creag Pitridh . The starting point is a car park on the A86 near the small settlement of Moy , west of Loch Laggan. From there, the ascent leads over forest paths and later on hunting trails past Lochan na h-Earba along the Allt Coire Pitridh stream to the north side of the mountain and east of Coire Mòr a 'Chlachair to the extensive summit plateau. Alternatively, the west side or the less pronounced north ridge from the Bealach Leamhain can also be used as ascents and descents.
