The Vordere Lahngangsee is located in the Dead Mountains on the Styrian side of the Salzkammergut in Austria . The closest place is Gößl am Grundlsee . The lake lies in a geologically caused collapse between the grass wall and Neustein.

Use and development

The lake is owned by the Austrian Federal Forests and serves as a natural gene reservoir for the well-known char and has not been leased by the Federal Forests since 2009. Above all, the abundance of fish and the purity of the species are extremely interesting. In the 1950s, for example, char were brought down from the Lahngangsee to make it easier to re-raise the “real” Grundlsee char. But you can also watch large lake trout in the lake on beautiful summer days. Fishing itself is prohibited.
