The Kehlbach is a right tributary of the Salzach in the municipality of Elsbethen , a southern suburb of the city of Salzburg .
General
The Kehlbach has its origin in St. Jakob am Thurn , a district of the municipality of Puch near Hallein . The stream flows about 2 km to the northwest towards Elsbethen and then flows west towards the Salzach.
The Kehlbach flows past the Trockener Klamm and the Archstein , which are among the natural monuments in Elsbethen. The Kehlbach also feeds the Stadlerkessel , which was also declared a natural monument due to its peculiarity and rarity. The Kehlbach probably got its name from the deep cut ("Kehl") in the rock near the Stadlerkessel.
