List of local protected areas in Vorarlberg
In Vorarlberg , there are 9 local protected areas of nature and landscape protection , with a total area of 0.62 square kilometers . There are such local protected areas at the municipal level in 8 municipalities in Vorarlberg .
The local protected area in Vorarlberg nature conservation law
The protected areas under state law are regulated in Section 26 of the Act on Nature Conservation and Landscape Development , where the prerequisites are also clarified (complete or extensive originality, habitats of the fauna that are characterized by extensive tranquility, rare or endangered animal or plant species or communities of Animals and plants, rare or scientifically interesting minerals or fossils, a natural or landscape area that is rare in the country, scenic beauty or peculiarity or significance for the recreation of the population, the landscape or townscape particularly formative, invigorating or structuring; Paragraph 1 )
In addition, the municipalities can then issue their own protective labels as part of municipal planning:
"For areas and areas within the meaning of Section 26 Paragraph 1, which are primarily of local importance, the municipal council can issue protective provisions by ordinance after hearing the state government."
These local protected areas - and the local natural monuments clarified in Section 26 (2) - were created with the new law of 1997 and represent a special feature of Vorarlberg nature conservation law, which emphasizes the importance of municipal strategies for regional development also in environmental protection.
