Wilson Jr. was an indie rock band from Würzburg with lyrics in German.

history

Wilson Jr. was founded in the summer of 2002 and had its original line-up until it was dissolved in June 2012. The trio recorded three official studio albums.

The first long player with the title Introinvasion was recorded in the summer of 2005 by producer Mario Thaler ( Sportfreunde Stiller , Slut , The Notwist , Console) in Weilheim (Upper Bavaria) and distributed by Consolidate Records (Edition of EMI Music Publishing Germany) in April 2006 Rough Trade was released. In August 2008, Wilson Jr. released the second album entitled Messer. Soul. Love. Light. on the market. The band retained the label, publisher and distribution for this release, but switched to producer Sven Peks (last instance, Astra Kid, Jahcoustix). The third album déjà-vu was available since February 24, 2012 and is the most melodic and catchiest work of the trio. The songs were recorded again by Sven Peks, the publishing house and distribution stayed the same, but the band switched to the Brainstorm label.

Wilson Jr. made a name for himself throughout Germany through extensive live activities. For example, the band played at the major German open-air festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in 2006 and acted as the opening act for big names in the scene such as Kettcar , Muff Potter , Scrap Limit and Hundred Reasons .

Just looking at the history of the formation under the name Wilson Jr. does not capture the entire creative process of the three musicians who have worked together since 1993. Since then, the trio has been part of a wide variety of formations in the Mainfranken area (Northern Bavaria). The sound of Wilson Jr. was to be understood as the result of the testing of different styles in the previous bands. The three musicians played hardcore in the formation Point of no Return (1993 to 1996), emo rock with the band Ampersand (1997), California punk rock with Clockwise from Top (1997 to 1999) and German-language independent rock with Patentblau 5 (1999 to 2003).

In June 2012, Wilson Jr. decided to liquidate. Private reasons were decisive for the step. The musicians parted without a fight. The trio played their last concert at the open-air festival Umsonst & Draußen in their hometown of Würzburg on June 22, 2012.

style

Wilson Jr. combined stylistic influences of the so-called Hamburg School (bands like Kettcar, Tomte etc.) with typical US college rock. While the Hamburg School was more reflected in the text, the American component was mainly used musically.
