Ralph Abercromby, 2nd Baron Dunfermline

Ralph Abercromby, 2nd Baron Dunfermline (born April 6, 1803 , † July 12, 1868 ) was a British diplomat.

Ralph Abercromby was the son of the politician James Abercromby, 1st Baron Dunfermline and a grandson of General Sir Ralph Abercromby . From 1835 to 1838 he was Prime Minister in Tuscany, from 1838 to 1840 British envoy to the German Confederation . He was ambassador to Turin from 1840 to 1851 , particularly during the wars of 1848 and 1849. From 1851 to 1858 he was envoy in The Hague . In 1859 he retired from public life. In 1863 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh .

Since 1838 he was married to Lady Mary Elizabeth Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, daughter of Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound , 2nd Earl of Minto . With her he had a daughter, Mary Catherine Elizabeth Abercromby (* around 1849, † after 1882).

He died on July 12, 1868. Since he left no male descendants, his title of nobility became extinct.
