Ralph Dacre, 3rd Baron Dacre

Ralph Dacre, 3rd Baron Dacre also Randolf de Dacre (* October 1322 - † 17 or 18 August 1375 in Halton-on-Lune , Lancashire ) was an English nobleman and politician.

Family and career

Dacre was born one of three sons to Ralph Dacre, 1st Baron Dacre and his wife Margaret de Multon . After the death of his father in 1339, the title of Baron Dacre fell to Ralph's older brother William . When he died childless in 1361, Ralph took over the title. Between 1346 and 1375 he worked as a pastor in Prescot . As early as August 14, 1362 he became a member of the English parliament , to which he belonged until October 4, 1373. In 1366 Edward III appointed him . to the head of the Western March . Dacre was murdered in his bedroom on the night of August 17-18, 1375. His brother Hugh was arrested and questioned as a suspect in the Tower of London . On July 2, 1376, he was released from prison and was allowed to take over the title of his brother on July 10, 1376.
