Ralph Held (born November 28, 1957 in Aachen ) is a German basketball official and trainer.

career

Held played basketball with the BG Aachen, the highest men's division that he reached during his career was the regional league. During his teaching degree (subjects: English and sport) he also worked as a basketball coach in the youth and men's field.

Held came to Bundesliga club TVG Trier in 1995 via the interim stop at BBF Kordel , where he became assistant to head coach Don Beck  . In 1998 and 2001 he won the DBB Cup with the Moselans . In 2002 Held was also assistant coach of the Luxembourg national team under Beck.

He stayed in Trier until 2002 and moved to Bundesliga competitor EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the run-up to the 2002/03 game year together with Beck . Held also worked as an assistant trainer for Lower Saxony, in 2009 he contributed to winning the German championship in this way. When Predrag Krunić was  dismissed in Oldenburg in March 2012, Held stepped in as head coach until the end of the season. In 2015 he won the German cup competition with the Lower Saxony. In addition to his work as co-trainer for the Bundesliga team, Held was in charge of youth development in Oldenburg and built up structures that, among other things, formed the basis for the two-time championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB (2014 and 2015) by the youth development team Baskets Akademie Weser -Ems / Oldenburger TB ("BAWE / OTB") laid. In 2015 his son Christian Held was the coach of the BAWE / OTB championship team.

Held left Oldenburg in the summer of 2015 and took up the position of sports director at the German Basketball Association on October 1, 2015 , which he held until the end of May 2019. On July 1, 2019, Held took up the post of managing director of the regional basketball league team MTB Baskets Hannover.
