Ralph Wheelwright
Ralph Wheelwright (born September 11, 1898 in New York City , † April 15, 1971 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter.
Life
Wheelwright was with MGM for many years . From the 1930s to the 1950s, he provided the basic story for several Hollywood film productions, and he also worked as a film producer twice in the 1940s. The story of Blossoms in the Dust is based on a personal experience of Wheelwright. While trying to adopt a child with his wife, the two came across Edna Gladney and her organization. This could help them to have a baby. Inspired by Gladney, Wheelwright wrote a story about her life and sold his script to Louis B. Mayer for $ 10,000 . The film was then made.
For the screenplay for the film The Man with 1000 Faces , Goff was nominated for an Oscar in 1958 together with Ivan Goff , R. Wright Campbell and Ben Roberts in the category Best Original Screenplay.
