Ben Roberts (screenwriter)
Ben Roberts (born March 23, 1916 in Brooklyn , New York , † May 12, 1984 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter and producer.
Life
Roberts began his career as a screenwriter in the late 1930s. Until the 1960s, he was mainly involved in cinema productions. Then he turned more and more to the production and development of television series. So he was, for example. together with Ivan Goff responsible for the creation of the series Gauner gegen Gauner and Drei Engel für Charlie . The two also wrote many screenplays for cinema films together.
For the screenplay for the film The Man with 1000 Faces , Roberts was nominated for an Oscar in 1958 together with Ralph Wheelwright , R. Wright Campbell and Ivan Goff in the category Best Original Screenplay.
For the series Mannix he was nominated for an Emmy in 1972 and 1973 together with the rest of the production team .
Roberts was married and had three children.
