Ramon Ernesto Cruz
Ramón Ernesto Cruz Uclés (born January 4, 1903 in San Juan de Flores , † August 6, 1985 in Tegucigalpa ) was President of Honduras from June 7, 1971 to December 4, 1972 .
After attending school in San Juan de Flores, Cruz went to Tegucigalpa to complete his education there. In 1921/22 he trained as a teacher and received a position at the Escuela de Varones de San Juancito in the Francisco Morazán Department . Cruz received his PhD in science and law from the National Autonomous University of Honduras and was a member of the Honduras Supreme Court from 1949 to 1964. He was also a member of the International Court of Justice in The Hague .
Cruz was already a presidential candidate for the Partido Nacional de Honduras (PN) in 1963 , but General Oswaldo López Arellano came to power. López, however, allowed further elections in April 1971, from which Cruz emerged victorious. After 18 months in office, he was ousted in a coup led by López.
