At the age of 18 Ramón Julián Puigblanque took part in his first World Climbing Championships in 2000 . In Amsterdam he finished 13th. In the years that followed, the Spaniard won numerous World Cups and achieved his best overall ranking in 2010 with the overall victory.
In the same year Puigblanque became world champion in Aviles at home . In front of his compatriot Lakunza , he achieved a Spanish one-two. In March 2003, the top Spanish climber caused a stir when he was able to climb the well-known La Rambla direct route in Siurana (Spain), which is rated 9a + . In 2012, with Nit de bruixes in Margalef and Catxasa in Santa Linya, he achieved two more routes with this level of difficulty.
