Ramon Berndroth (born March 24, 1952 in Mainz ) is a former soccer player . He worked as a soccer coach from 1991 to 2010 and has been the sporting director of the performance center at SV Darmstadt 98 since 2014 .
Player career
His playing career began in his home club 1. FSV Mainz 05 . Then switched to the amateurs of Eintracht Frankfurt . In the mid-1970s he played with VfR Bürstadt in the second division .
Coaching career
First he worked as an assistant trainer at Eintracht Frankfurt from 1991 to 1997. He was also the head coach of the second team. He then spent two years at VfB Lübeck . Between 2000 and 2003 he was head coach at Kickers Offenbach in the Regionalliga Süd . After his dismissal, he moved to VfR Neumünster before returning to Offenbach after just two months at 1. FC Eschborn as a coach of the U23. In the second division 2007/08 season he was interim coach for a game after the dismissal of Wolfgang Frank . At the beginning of the second division season 2008/09 he moved to FSV Frankfurt , which had just been promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga and where coach Tomas Oral did not have the required coaching license. In 2009/10, Berndroth was primarily responsible for the second team of the FSV, which rose from the Hessen League to the Regionalliga Süd at the end of the season. After a 2: 7 defeat at the Stuttgarter Kickers on matchday 16, the sporting management of the FSV decided to part with Berndroth and his assistant coach Mike Osei. Berndroth's successor was Bernhard Trares on November 17, 2010 .
From December 5, 2016 until the winter break, he was interim coach of SV Darmstadt 98 after Norbert Meier was released . After three defeats in three games, Torsten Frings took over the team in January 2017.
Since December 2019 he has been working again at Kickers Offenbach, where he takes on the role of co-trainer.
Career as a sports coordinator
On July 1, 2011, Ramon Berndroth returned to the OFC in a new role as sports coordinator of the entire Kickers Offenbach club and also took over the management of the youth training center. Between 2014 and December 2019 he was the sporting director of the performance center at SV Darmstadt 98 .
Private
His son Nino Berndroth is also a soccer player and played under his father in the U23 of Kickers Offenbach. His son followed him to FSV Frankfurt in 2008/09, where he also played in the U23. Nino Berndroth is now working as a team manager at Kickers Offenbach.
