Ramon Laguarta

Ramon Laguarta (* 1963 in Barcelona , Catalonia ) is a Spanish manager and CEO of PepsiCo . He became CEO on October 3, 2018 after his predecessor Indra Nooyi resigned.

career

Laguarta graduated from ESADE Business School in Barcelona in 1985 with a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration . In 1986 he received a Masters degree in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University . He then started working for the lollipop manufacturer Chupa Chups and switched to PepsiCo in 1996. His first role was in the company's European operations, and he eventually rose to CEO of all European and Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA) operations. While working in Europe, Laguarta was instrumental in the takeover of the Russian milk and juice company Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods . Laguarta was named President of PepsiCo in December 2017. He oversaw PepsiCo's global category groups, their global operations, corporate strategy, and public policy & external relations functions. As a result of the promotion, he moved to the United States .

Laguarta was named as the new CEO of PepsiCo on August 6, 2018; on the same day that Indra Nooyi announced her resignation. He officially assumed the role on October 3, 2018 and became President of the Board of Directors on February 1, 2019 .

Laguarta speaks six languages ​​( English , Catalan , Spanish , French , German and Greek ). He is married and has three children.
