Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi (born October 28, 1955 in Madras ( Chennai ), India ) is an American company manager and was Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PepsiCo from October 2006 to 2018 .

Life

Indra Nooyi studied at Madras Christian College and the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta . There she received the Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing. After completing her studies, she worked for two years as a product manager at Johnson & Johnson and the textile company Mettur Beardsell . She then went to the Yale School of Management , which she graduated with a Master of Public and Private Management . From 1980 Indra Nooyi worked for the Boston Consulting Group for six years . In 1986, she joined Motorola where she became vice president and director of corporate strategy and planning. In 1990 she was Senior Vice President Strategy and Strategic Marketing at Asea Brown Boveri . In 1994 she joined the company Pepsi as Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning a. Two years later, she became senior vice president of corporate strategy and development. As of February 2000, Indra Nooyi was Senior Vice President of Pepsi and in May 2001 she became Chief Financial Officer. On October 1, 2006, she became the company's CEO, the fifth CEO in the history of PepsiCo. Today she lives in Greenwich, Connecticut with her husband and two daughters .

In 2007 she was awarded the Indian Civil Order Padma Bhushan and she was voted number 5 by Forbes Magazine , and number 3 in 2008 and 2009 on the list of the 100 most powerful women in the world .

In addition, Nooyi was honored with admission to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2008 .
