The Ramp Rocks (from English ramp , ramp, driveway, rise ' ) are three barren and up to 23 m high cliff rocks in the group of the Willis Islands belonging to the archipelago of South Georgia . They are 4 km northwest of Johannesen Point on Main Island .
Norwegian whale and seal hunters named the largest of the rocks Laavebrua ( Norwegian for threshing floor bridge ). The term describes a ramp for bringing hay into barns . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated the name into English in 1954, then adapted it in 1976 to extend it to all three rocks.
