history
The village on the western bank of the Regen River is first mentioned under the name "Randesbure" in a document from King Henry II in 1011, who stayed here. At that time it belonged to the lords of the castle who resided on the castle complex that was destroyed by the Swedes in the Thirty Years War . Ramspau can be traced back to the 14th century as a seat of power and belonged to the Duchy of Neuburg . Johann Sigismund von Reisach purchased the property and the remains of the castle in 1694 and used the stones of the castle as a building material for the highly visible, marked by its four distinctive onion domes Castle .
The parish of Ramspau is mentioned for the first time in 1321. The church buildings have been rebuilt and enlarged several times over the years and were last renovated in 1990. As was customary in many places at that time, school lessons began in 1616.
The place was previously called Großramspau .
On January 1, 1978, the municipality of Ramspau was fully incorporated into the Regenstauf market. The districts of Ramspau, Anglhof , Kleinramspau , Münchsried and Schwaighof belonged to it .
On 17./18. June 2011 the "Golddorf" celebrated its 1000th anniversary with a costume parade in historical garments.
On December 31, 2018, Ramspau had 385 inhabitants.
