The Ramu was a government touring boat in the colony of German New Guinea .

history

The Ramu was built in Hamburg in 1899. The boat was named after the Ramu River in what was then the German part of the island of New Guinea .

The steam-powered launch belonged to the governorate of the Kaiser-Wilhelms-Land district of the German New Guinea colony and was used by government officials to tour the coast and rivers of the German territory of New Guinea. The Ramu was initially stationed at Herbsthöhe and was relocated to Friedrich-Wilhelmshafen before 1907 , where it was at least until 1913. Her further fate is not known.
