style

Stanley's pictures, drawings , sketches and collages contain recourse to ciphers from African art and illuminate his own identity, which is shaped by his origins in two cultural circles.

On the occasion of an exhibition in the Galerie Markt Bruckmühl about Stanley's drawings, Andreas Kühne , university professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , said: “The African, mythical element characterizes Stanley's work in the form of rituals and archaic symbols, which in the overall picture Experience Art Transformation ". The pairs of opposites near and distance or past and present played a major role. “As static as the drawings may appear at first, closer inspection reveals their spatial dimension, which sharpens the view for the non-contemporaneous.” According to a report in the Upper Bavarian Volksblatt , Stanley presented “representational drawings, some with quotation pieces that only superficially suggest a statement, but if you take a closer look, leave room for opening up, for intellectual analysis.
