Rantan plan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rantanplan is a prison dog that first appeared in Lucky Luke in 1960 and became the title hero of his own Franco-Belgian comic series in 1985 .

René Goscinny introduced the guard dog at the suggestion of Morris as a parody of Rin Tin Tin in Lucky Luke . From then on he appeared in most episodes of the Daltons .

Due to the popularity of Rantanplan, Xavier Fauche and Jean Léturgie began writing comic strips in 1985 , drawn by Michel Janvier and published in the French-language press. Her first album-long story came out in 1987 in Pif . Frederik Garcia also took part in this album. The volume Das Kamel was written by Xavier Fauche and Éric Adam . The draftsman Vittorio Leonardo and the copywriter Bob de Groot replaced the previous team in the series of gags in 1993 and were responsible for the albums Die Genies , Die große Reise and Die Schöne und die Beast . Achdé , who replaced Morris as a draftsman from Lucky Luke , drew eight one-liners and a short story, which were published in the 2003 summer and 2004 in the Christmas edition of Pilote .

Dargaud started the album release in 1987, which was later continued by Lucky Productions and Lucky Comics. The gags appeared in the series under the title Bêtisier . With legal problems resolved, the series was continued in 2008 with the comic strips that have not yet been published in album form. In Carré d'os there was an overlap with Bêtisier 1 . In contrast to the French-speaking original series, the strips were released in landscape format in German-speaking countries. Ehapa therefore published the ten album-length adventures separately as a series of gags.

action

As in Lucky Luke , Rantanplan is a watchdog in a state prison. Instead of devoting himself to his actual main task, he prefers to pursue his favorite pastime, eating and sleeping. The prison cook Pavlov, who on the one hand has to rescue Rantanplan from all possible difficulties and on the other hand is regularly reprimanded by the prison director if he is not promoted after an unannounced inspection, is more suffering.

main characters

Rantan plan

The simple-minded watchdog Rantanplan only thinks about food (Pavlov is taken hostage on the roof: "Come on, free Pavlov, Rantanplan!" "So what, the food is on the roof! This is new!"). In addition, his accuracy when jumping is zero ("too high", "too deep").

Mr Director

It is not easy for the director, especially when the inspector comes. Then it can happen that the director faints. Even with his promotion, he usually has no luck because of Rantanplan.

Pavlov

Pavlov is a cook and therefore the best friend and master of Rantanplan. He is also always employed when it comes to Rantanplan (be it going to the fort when Rantanplan becomes a mascot, going looking for Rantanplan because he ran away or paying the ransom for the Rantanplan taken hostage).

The inspector

The inspector is known for his surprise inspections, which are not always surprising ("Like every first Monday of the month, we are already expecting your rounds!"). But when it comes down to it (a big top is in jail or Rantanplan has been taken hostage) it comes unexpectedly.

Tricky Jack

Tricky Jack probably breaks out most often - mostly through the "tunnel trick" - but by chance he is always caught by Rantanplan when he is e.g. B. is looking for a bone, wants to hide in the bush or confuses Jack with Lucky Luke.

gangway

Gangway is a guard in the prison and mostly at the director's side. Like everyone else, Rantanplan sometimes worries him (he mistook gangways money for puff pastry and ate).
