Ranunculion fluitantis
The Ranunculion fluitantis , alternatively with the synonymous name Batrachion fluitantis or Callitricho-Batrachion, is a plant community in the rank of an association , in which the underwater vegetation from flowing aquatic plants in flowing waters is summarized. The plant community is named after the flooding water crowfoot ( Ranunculus fluitans , syn. Batrachium fluviatilis ), which, together with other water crowfoot species ( Ranunculus section or subgenus Batrachium ), is characteristic of the vegetation.
Assignment in the plant sociological system
- Class of the Potamogetonetea (aquatic plant communities of fresh water). To simplify matters, the name is often abbreviated as Potametea .
- Order of the Potamogetonetalia (freshwater pondweed societies). To simplify matters , the name is often abbreviated as Potametalia because the full name is difficult to pronounce.
Surname
The name Ranunculion fluitantis refers to the flowing water crowfoot (scientifically: Ranunculus fluitans ). The ending -ion indicates that it is a plant-sociological association .
The association was described as Batrachion fluitantis in 1959 by the Czech vegetation expert Robert Neuhäusl . The name Ranunculion fluitantis was introduced in a similar sense by Pierre Allorge as early as 1922 , but he did not include any vegetation recordings in his description , which would actually make his name invalid according to the plant-sociological nomenclature rules. Since the section Batrachium , to which the presumably valid name refers, is partly listed as an independent genus, partly as a component of the genus Ranunculus , both names are widespread in the specialist literature to this day. It should be noted that the name of a plant community does not change automatically when the scientific name of the identifying species changes. In 1964, the Dutch led Chris den Hartog and Sam Segal another classification of aquatic plant vegetation one in which they (after a dressing Callitricho-Batrachion newly named Ranunculus subgen. Batrachium and water stars of the genus Callitriche sect. Callitriche , especially Callitriche hamulata ) of which the Ranunculion fluitantis is only a subgroup. According to today's opinion, however, their name is synonymous.
The abbreviated spelling "Ranunculion" should not be used for the association because there is another, independent association with the Ranunculion aquatilis introduced by Harro Passarge , which describes a vegetation unit of standing water, so that this name would be misleading. The Callitricho-Batrachion from the Hartog and Segal partly refers to this, so that the assignment when using this name is not clear.
Natura 2000 and Habitats Directive
According to Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) , Annex I, the habitat type with code 3260 was defined as:
- Natura code : 3260
- Rivers of the planar to montane level with vegetation of the Ranunculion fluitantis and the Callitricho-Batrachion
Habitat type
The habitat type, characterized by the plant community Ranunculion fluitantis, is found in brooks in the hilly low mountain range or in the flat lowlands. The subsoil of these brooks can be fine, silty or consist of gravel and rock. The water can flow at low speed in ditches and oxbow lakes, or it can flow quickly in mountain streams.
The flood end Water crowfoot may occur in company with ranunculus peltatus , Pinselblättrigem Water crowfoot , Haarblättrigem Water crowfoot , Exceptional Water crowfoot , simple hedgehog piston , Berle , Exceptional arrowhead , water rating types , Wechselblütigem milfoil , Potamogeton nodosus , pondweed .
This plant community serves as a habitat for the following species: brook lamprey , West bullhead , loach , loach , banded demoiselle , Beautiful Demoiselle , Green Clubtail , stoneflies , caddis flies , freshwater pearl mussels , otters , kingfishers , sandpipers , sand martins , dipper and gray wagtail .
Red List of Plant Associations in Germany (Rennwald 2000)
Ranunculion fluitantis is on the red list of endangered plant communities in Germany . It is listed as an association with the category "1 = threatened with disappearing".
