Raoul Weckbecker
Raoul Weckbecker (born July 16, 1898 in Mersch , † October 6, 1978 in Luxembourg ) was a Luxembourgish bobsleigh athlete and ski racer.
At the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Weckbecker was a member of Marc Schœtter's four-man bobsleigh and was one of the first winter athletes to be sent to the Winter Games by the Grand Duchy. The young team finished both runs on 20th out of 23rd places.
Eight years later, at the 1936 Winter Games in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , Weckbecker was the captain of his own two-man bobsleigh. Together with his teammate Géza Wertheim , however, he did not get past 22nd and last place. He also started in alpine competitions, but already gave up the race in downhill skiing.
