Raoul Ritter von Dombrowski (born June 3, 1833 in Prague , † September 3, 1896 in Vienna ; often listed as Raoul von Dombrowski and Raoul Ritter von Dombrowski zu Paprosz and Kruszwice ) was an Austrian forest scientist .

Life

Raoul Ritter von Dombrowski came from an old Polish noble family . His father Otto von Dombrowski was a kuk Rittmeister . Dombrowski received his first school education on his father's estate Habern near Prague. He then attended the academic high school in Prague. He joined the Austrian army, but left military service as first lieutenant in 1856 and studied agriculture and forestry at the Hohenheim Agricultural Academy . Until 1872 he lived on his estates Úlice (Ullitz) and Jezná (Gesna) in Bohemia, which he sold in 1872; for this he acquired the Bohemian estates Kámen and ash. In 1876 Dombrowski moved to Linz and in 1877 to Vienna . In 1878 he was appointed court forester to the Habsburg court hunting service . In 1883 he retired into private life. From 1886, Raoul Ritter von Dombrowski edited the general encyclopedia of all forestry and hunting sciences with specialist authorities .

Raoul Ritter von Dombrowski was the father of Ernst Ritter von Dombrowski (1862–1917), Robert Ritter von Dombrowski (1869–1932) and Karl Ritter von Dombrowski (1872–1951) and the grandfather of Ernst von Dombrowski (artist) (1896–1985) , Son of Ernst the Elder.
