Ernst von Dombrowski (writer)

Ernst Ritter von Dombrowski (born September 7, 1862 at Ullitz Castle near Pilsen (today Úlice) in Bohemia , † December 13, 1917 in Graz ) was a Bohemian hunter and writer.

He was born as the son of the Habsburg court hunting master and hunting writer Raoul von Dombrowski and entered the pioneer cadet school in Hainburg in 1878 , left it in 1881 because of an eye disease and devoted himself to scientific studies. He lived from 1887 to 1891 in Blasewitz near Dresden as editor-in-chief of "Weidmann" and was then from 1891 to 1894 Hofjägermeister in the service of Prince Reuss older line in Greiz . He has published numerous books on hunting and hunting related topics as well as stories and plays. In his writings, especially in Frank Waldfried , he showed himself to be an opponent of ultramontanism and a supporter of the Los-von-Rom movement . Ernst Ritter von Dombrowski died on December 13, 1917 in Graz.

His son of the same name (1896–1985) worked as a graphic artist, book illustrator and professor at the Munich Academy for Applied Art.

Ernst Ritter von Dombrowski was the brother of Robert Ritter von Dombrowski (1869–1932) and Karl Ritter von Dombrowski (1872–1951).
