Raphaël Sanchez

Raphaël Sanchez (* 1964 in Paris ) is a French composer, pianist and conductor.

Sanchez studied piano with Carmen Taccon and Germaine Mounier at the Conservatoire de Paris , Solfège with Berthe Duru-Delacour and Christian Manen, and harmony and counterpoint with Alain Bernaud and Jean-Claude Henri . This was followed by studying film music composition with Laurent Petit-Gérard and training with conductors Michael Dixon , Paul Morris and David Charles Abell .

Since then, Sanchez has been active as a pianist, conductor, arranger and composer, primarily in the field of stage, entertainment and film music. From 1990 to 1994 he was piano accompanist with Mireille Mathieu , then with Charles Aznavour until 1997 and 2000–01 . He also worked as an accompanist, conductor or arranger with Julia Migenes , Erik Berchot , Jean Guidone , Nana Mouskouri , Richard Clayderman , Michel Legrand , Carlos d'Aurelio , Shimizu Yasuaki Mahin Zarinpanjeh , Juan José Mosalini and others. For more than ten years he was composer and musical director of the Annie Fratellini circus . In 2005 he was hired as the band leader of Cirque du Soleil for its North American tour.

From 1991–92 he led the orchestra alternately with his teacher Abell in the performance of the musical Les Misérables at the Théâtre Mogador in Paris . At the Festival d'Ile-de-France in 1994 he was arranger and conductor of the Bal de la liberation . In the same year he was the pianist at the concert spectacle Annie Fratellini at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées (with Michel Portal and Patrice Fontanarosa ).

At the Concerto pour un Clown by Valérie Fratellini in 1997 in Lyon, he worked as a conductor and composer. In the following year he led the Tokyo New City Symphonic Orchestra on a Japan tour of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo (choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot ) in the performance of Sergei Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet . For the performance of Arthur Schnitzler's play Der Reigen by the Compagnie théâtrale Francis Perrin in 1999, he wrote the incidental music. In 2000 he was the composer and musical director of the performance of Beaumarchais et le Barbier de Seville, la Dernière by the theater group L'égale à égaux . In 2004 he was musical director of the musical comedy Chicago by John Kander , Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse in Paris.
