Carlos D'Alessio (* 1935 in Buenos Aires , † June 14, 1992 in Paris ) was an Argentine composer of film music .

Life

Carlos D'Alessio was born in Buenos Aires , Argentina in 1935 . While he was actually studying architecture, he was privately interested in films and music. He learned composition from Guillermo Graetzer and began to write music for plays. In 1962 he moved to New York and finally to Paris in 1972, where he met the Argentine dramaturge Copi . Marguerite Duras became aware of him in 1973 . The feature film India Song (1975) made him world famous as a composer for film music. Later he worked intensively with Jean-Pierre Jeunet , u. a. in the film Delicatessen , his last work. Carlos D'Alessio died on June 14, 1992 as a result of an HIV infection in Paris .
