Raphael Pallitsch

Raphael Pallitsch (born December 18, 1989 ) is an Austrian middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800 meters. In 2012 he played his last competitions. His greatest success was reaching the semifinals at the World Indoor Championships 2012 in Istanbul.

During his active time he trained at Lauf-Impuls Oggau in Burgenland and was self-coached from 2009. Since 2014 he has been the trainer of top Austrian runners, since 2015 project trainer running U20 / U18 for the Austrian Athletics Association and since 2016 club trainer.

education

Pallitsch studied movement and sport and the Catholic religion with the degree Mag. Rer. nat. In the course of his studies, he acquired an additional qualification in ethics .

Athletic career

Raphael Pallitsch began his career with the running team Burgenland Eisenstadt (formerly Team Peeroton Eisenstadt) in 1999 under the guidance of his youth coaches Rolf Meixner and Peter Böhm. Later he was temporarily looked after by Ilya Popov. In 2002 he won his first Austrian title in the U14 class in Enns. In 2004 he won the 1500 meter run in Cleveland at the International Children's Games in 4: 11.79 minutes.

He won Austrian championship titles and state championship titles from the U14 class to the general class and successfully took part in several international championships.

In January 2011 he suffered a fracture of the medial sesamoid bone in the right metatarsophalangeal joint, which did not heal again and later sealed the end of his career. During this time, however, he was able to qualify for the 2011 European Indoor Championships , the 2012 Indoor World Championships and the 2012 European Championships and missed the limit for the Olympic Games in London by 37 hundredths of a second .

His best time over the 800 meter distance is 1: 46.67 min.
