Requiem 2017 with conductor Florian Kirchhofer and composer Raphael Sommer Choirs: Ref. Kirchenchor Murten, Kath. Kirchenchor Langendorf and Projektchor REQUIEM Basel

In 2017, Sommer composed the score for the film noir Scotchend by director Marc Teide. In addition to the film music, Raphael Sommer composed under the musical direction and baton of Florian Kirchhofer as an addition to Karl Jenkins Requiem, a requiem that premiered in November 2017 with great success in Murten, Basel and Solothurn. Sommer's Requiem differs from other Requiems in that it deals with the question of what comes before and after the Requiem. Raphael Sommer describes a journey made by a Bedouin family who is looking for a new home. A long journey through deserts and cities in Israel, accompanied by hope, fear, despair,

Feelings of home and the way to yourself. The journey ends musically in the Elysium , the island of the souls.

The majority of the public and the press received Raphael Sommer's work positively. The Solothurner Zeitung and Murtenbieter Zeitung titled the Requiem as a "door opener for sacred music" and a "musical epic".

In 2018, Sommer composed the score for The Wigmaker by Orlando Bassi, the film noir soundtrack for the film Scotchend by Marc Teide and for the short film Fighters by Julian Quentin, which received second place at the Youth Film Festival (Category C). Raphael Sommer published Elysium for Ballet, a recomposition from Raphael Sommer's Requiem.
