Rashid Khalidi

Rashid Ismail Khalidi ( Arabic رشيد خالدي), (* 1948 in New York ) is an American - Palestinian historian of the Middle East , Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and Director of the Middle East Institute located there.

Life

He is considered a confidante of US President Barack Obama . The good relationship between the two gave rise to speculation during the election campaign about a deterioration in relations with Israel.

Khalidi has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2009 .
