Ratchaprasong
Ratchaprasong (also Rajaprasong , Rajprasong or Ratprasong ; Thai แยก ราช ประสงค์ , RTGS Yaek Ratchaprasong , pronunciation [jɛ̂ːk râːtt͡ɕʰápràsǒŋ] , colloquially [râːtpràsǒŋ] ) is the name of a well-known intersection and a shopping street in the Pathum district of Bangkok .
location
At the Ratchaprasong Junction, Rama I Street (Thanon Phra Ram 1) , Ratchadamri Street and Phloen Chit Street intersect . The Chit Lom station of the Bangkok Skytrain is nearby . There are many hotels and shopping centers here. The "Police General Hospital", a large, general hospital, is also right at the intersection.
history
The Ratchaprasong Junction was the main scene of the "red shirt" riots in April and May 2010 .
Attractions
- Sacrifices are made to the Hindu god Brahma at the " Erawan Shrine " . It is located on the grounds of the luxury hotel Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok.

- Central World shopping center, one of the most expensive and with a retail space of 429,500 m² the largest shopping center in Thailand. During the 2010 riots in Bangkok , a large part of the building complex was burned down.

BTS Skytrain :
- Chit Lom BTS station on the Sukhumvit Line, connected by covered pedestrian bridges to: Central Chidlom, Maneeya Center, Grand Hyatt Erawan, Gaysorn and Central World. The nearby BTS station Silom in Siam Square can be reached via the pedestrian bridge .
- Ratchadamri BTS station on the Silom Line, near the luxury Four Seasons Bangkok hotel and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.
- The Pratu Nam jetty for speedboats on the Khlong Saen Saep is just a few minutes' walk away.
- BMTA city buses, more than 20 bus routes of the BMTA (Bangkok Mass Transit Authority) can be reached here.
