Kamenz Town Hall

Town hall east facade on the market

The town hall is a monument on the market square of Kamenz in Saxony .

Carl August Schramm from Zittau built it in 1847/48 as a replacement for the previous building, which was destroyed in the city fire of 1842, in Italian- style arched forms in the style of a Venetian palazzo. Designs by Karl Friedrich Schinkel served as a template . The symmetrical three-storey building dominating the market square is dominated by a 40-meter-high, centrally placed, slender tower over a square floor plan, with pinnacles adorning the corners. The red plaster facade is cuboid and has a diamond pattern .
