Johann Anton Weinmann

Johann Anton Weinmann (Russian Иван Андреевич Вейнман, Iwan Andrejewitsch Weinman ; born December 23, 1782 in Würzburg , † August 5, 1858 in Pavlovsk (Saint Petersburg) ) was a German-Russian gardener and botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Weinm. "

Life

From 1803 he was chief gardener of the newly founded botanical garden in Dorpat (today Tartu ), from 1823 inspector of the garden of Tsarina Maria Feodorovna in Pavlovsk near Saint Petersburg.

Honors

The mushrooms Weinmannodora Fr. and Weinmannioscyphus Svrček are named after him .
