Wanfried Town Hall
The town hall in Wanfried , a country town in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse , was built in the middle of the 17th century. The half-timbered house at Marktstrasse 18 is a protected architectural monument .
history
The three-story building was built by the Uckermann merchant family as a trading yard in the second half of the 17th century (around 1670). It stands on the vaulted cellar of an earlier house that was burned down during the Thirty Years' War .
The lettering "Rathaus" above the passage was applied in 1979 for the shooting of the film The Willi Busch Report .
description
The house has two half-timbered upper floors and two attic floors, all of which protrude slightly. Man figures , round wood and rhombuses with noses are available as decorative forms . The corner posts and cornices are carved with simple motifs. The outbuildings are also designed in half-timbered construction.
