Raul Donazar Calvet

Raul Donazar Calvet (born November 3, 1934 in Bagé in the state of Rio Grande do Sul , † March 29, 2008 in Porto Alegre , RS ) was a Brazilian football player.

Raul Donazar Calvet, with a dashing, thin mustache, was a tech-savvy central defender who was also given elegance. He played at club level after starting out with Guarany de Bagé from 1956 to 1959 for Gremio Porto Alegre . But he celebrated his greatest successes from 1960 to 1964 in the legendary team of FC Santos , which won the Copa Libertadores twice and the World Cup just as often in that era with players like Pelé . Between 1960 and 1962 he also made ten appearances in the national soccer team of Brazil and reached second place with her at the Pan American Soccer Championship in Costa Rica in 1960 .

With Grêmio he won the state championships in Rio Grande do Sul in 1956 and 1959. With Santos he won not only the major international titles in 1962 and 1963 between 1961 and 1964 but also four times the Taça Brasil , the first national soccer competition in Brazil, which later became recognition was given as the national championship, and the state championship of São Paulo . In 1965 he had to stop his active career because of an Achilles tendon injury. He played his last game on September 19, 1965 against SE Palmeiras , which the team from São Paulo won 1-0.

In the 1970s he worked again as a talent scout for Santos.

He died of cancer at the age of 72. The twice married national player left two sons and four grandchildren.
