The noise mint ( Lagochilus inebrians ), also known as intoxicating hare lip herb or Turkestanminze , is a flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae (Lamiaceae).

description

The Rauschmint is a shrub that reaches heights of up to 1 meter. The flowers are hermaphroditic.

Occurrence

This type of plant is native to the steppes of Turkestan , Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan . It thrives best on sandy to loamy, alkaline soils in full sun, dry to moist locations.

use

The herb that is harvested and dried or roasted in autumn is brewed as a tea, which is sweetened with honey or sugar due to its bitter taste. It is traditionally consumed by Turkmen , Uzbeks , Tatars and Tajiks . It causes a mild euphoria, but also serves as a sedative. In Russian folk medicine, allergies , blood clots and skin diseases are also treated with this plant. The plant contains the diterpene lagochilin . The content of the active ingredient can fluctuate, on average the dry matter contains 3% lagochilin.

Legal position

In Germany, Rauschmint is not subject to the BtMG .
