Raymond Stewart

Raymond Stewart ( Raymond Douglas "Ray" Stewart ; born March 18, 1965 in Kingston ) is a former Jamaican sprinter .

career

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Stewart won a silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay with the Jamaican relay . In addition, he was sixth in the controversial final of the 100-meter run .

In 1987 he advanced from bronze to silver at the World Athletics Championships in Rome in the 100-meter run after the disqualification of Ben Johnson and won bronze with the Jamaican team in the 4-by-100-meter relay.

The following year, Stewart injured himself in the 100 meter final of the Seoul Olympics and finished last. Each over 100 m he was sixth at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo and seventh at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . In 1993 he was eighth over 100 m at the World Championships in Stuttgart and reached the quarter-finals over 200 m .

In 1995 he was eighth again at the World Championships in Gothenburg over 100 m. Over 200 m he was eliminated in the preliminary run, in the 4 x 100 meter relay he was fourth with the Jamaican team.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he reached the quarter-finals over 100 m, and at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1997 in Paris he was fourth over 60 m .

After his active career, he worked as a trainer and looked after Jerome Young , among others . In the wake of the investigation into the BALCO affair , the United States Anti-Doping Agency banned him for life as a trainer in 2010 because he had procured doping substances for his charges.

Raymond Stewart is 1.78 m tall and weighed 73 kg during his playing days.
