Raymond Gigot (born May 11, 1885 in Perpignan , † September 25, 1915 in Neuville-Saint-Vaast ) was a French football player .

life and career

The defender Gigot wore the jersey of the French capital club Club Français Paris in the early years of the 20th century . He performed so well that shortly before his 20th birthday he was considered for one of the first international matches in the history of the French national team . On May 7, 1905, he ran on the side of his club colleagues Fernand Canelle and Georges Garnier for France and suffered a 7-0 defeat against Belgium. He was not considered for further missions. In the summer of 1905 he moved from Club Français to city rivals Stade Français . He had to take part in the First World War as a soldier and fell in September 1915 at the age of 30 in an offensive by the French army in Artois . He is one of four national players in the country who suffered this fate.
