Raymond Johansen (born February 14, 1961 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian politician of the Ap ( Arbeiderpartiet ) workers' party .

Life

After training, Johansen worked as a plumber and began his political involvement in the Sosialistisk Ungdom , the youth organization of the Socialist People's Party SV ( Sosialistisk Venstreparti ) in the mid-1980s . He was initially the successor to Kristin Halvorsen between 1986 and his replacement by Paul Chaffey in 1988 as chairman of Sosialistisk Ungdom and then from 1990 to 1991 chairman of SV in Oslo. He then belonged to the Oslo city council between 1991 and 1995 as a representative of the SV. During this time he was also city ​​councilor for the environment and transport from 1992 to 1995 . He then became head of department at the Agency for Development Cooperation Norad (Norsk Directoratet for utviklingssamarbeid) . In 1997 he left the SV and became a member of the Ap workers' party ( Arbeiderpartiet ) .

After Johansen was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2000 and 2001, he served as Secretary General of the Refugee Council and Refugee Aid (Flyktningerådet / Flyktningehjelpen) between 2002 and 2005 and then held the post of State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2009. In 2009 he replaced Martin Kolberg as general secretary of the Labor Party (Partisekretær i Arbeiderpartiet) . In 2015 he resigned as Ap-General Secretary to run for the office of Chairman of the City Council of Oslo and was then replaced as General Secretary by Kjersti Stenseng . In the local elections on September 14, 2015, the Ap formed a coalition with the SV and the environmental party Die Grünen ( Miljøpartiet De Grønne ) and thus had 28 of the 59 seats in the city assembly. He was then elected chairman of the city government ( Byråd ) and thus the successor to Stian Berger Røsland from the conservative Høyre (H).

Johansen is a nephew of the ap-politician Thorbjørn Berntsen , who was a member of the Storting and between 1990 and 1997 Minister of the Environment. He is married to Carolina Maira Johansen, whose father Reiulf Steen was also a member of the Storting, Minister of Transport, Minister of Commerce and Shipping, Chairman of the Labor Party and Vice-President of the Storting.
