Raymond Désiré Orteig (born January 29, 1870 in Louvie-Juzon , Communauté de communes de la Vallée d'Ossau ; † June 6, 1939 in New York City , New York ) was a Parisian hotelier, who in 1919 received the sum of 25,000 US dollars as the prize for the first flight across the Atlantic (New York - Paris). This “ Orteig Prize ” was continued in the X Prize .
