Raymond Robertson

Raymond Robertson (born December 11, 1959 ) is a Scottish politician of the Scottish Conservative Party .

Life

Robertson attended the Garrion Academy in Wishaw and then studied at the University of Glasgow and Jordanhill College . He then worked as a teacher of history and modern studies . In 2002 Robertson founded the consulting company Halogen Communications .

Political career

Between 1982 and 1984 Robertson was the chairman of the Young Conservatives. For the first time in the 1987 general election , he ran in the constituency of Clydesdale to national elections. However, he could not prevail against the Labor candidate Jimmy Hood and thus missed the entry into the British House of Commons . In the 1992 general election , Robertson ran for the constituency of Aberdeen South . He managed to unite the largest share of the vote and thus win the lower house mandate from the incumbent Labor politician Frank Doran . After he first as Parliamentary Private Secretary of Michael Ancram in the Northern Ireland Office was working, he received a ministerial post with the departments of education, housing, fisheries and sport in the Scottish Office . In the 1997 general election , Robertson closed with massive voting losses in the constituency of Aberdeen South only from third place and was eliminated from the House of Commons. The mandate went to Anne Begg of the Labor Party. Until the 2001 general election , Robertson was chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party. Robertson ran for the constituency of Eastwood one last time . He was defeated by Jim Murphy of the Labor Party.
