biography
After studying at “Johan Cruijff College” in Nijmegen , he found a part-time job at “Linsen Parts” in Heijen . They give him the opportunity to combine pool and work. In addition to billiards, he also plays tennis for physical compensation.
Swertz started playing billiards at the age of 10. In his hometown of Afferden he played with his father until Hans Toonen called him and gave him lessons. After playing in youth competitions in the district for a few seasons, he started at the B youth competition in Boxmeer . In his first season, at the age of 12, he won his first national youth title in 4th grade in the free game at tournament billiards. This title win spurred him on to train more and get better. This has led to a better general average (GD) and thus to promotion in the various youth classes. During his youth, he played in the national A-junior competition for five years. On his 14th birthday, Swertz received training from René van Hinthum. During this training period he rose to the highest class of juniors.
At the age of 16, the Koninklijke Nederlandse Biljartbond (KNBB) promoted him to play at match pool under the direction of association coach Johan Claessen . Under his guidance, he won many national titles with the juniors and was three times European champion in the free game and in Cadre 47/2. At the age of 17 Swertz became a player in the first division. In autumn 2016 Swerts founded his company for billiard supplies (RS Biljart), in which he also offers lessons and demonstrations.
