Jutta Mägdefrau (* 1960 in Bielefeld ) is a German school teacher and so far the only professor of secondary school education and didactics.

Life

Jutta Mägdefrau studied at Bielefeld University for teaching at lower secondary level , for the subjects of music and German . After her legal clerkship for teaching at secondary schools in Baden-Württemberg from 1984 to 1986, she worked for seven years as a teacher at various secondary schools in Baden-Württemberg.

In addition to her work as a secondary school teacher, Mägdefrau studied educational science at the Ludwigsburg University of Education and graduated in 1995 with a diploma .

From 1996 to 1999 she was seconded to the Freiburg University of Education as a research assistant in the field of educational science to promote young academics. In 1999 she received her doctorate with the dissertation "Studies, professional career and aspects of job-specific professionalism of qualified pedagogues". After working for several years as a research assistant at the Institute for Educational Science II at the Freiburg University of Education, she completed her habilitation in 2005 at the Freiburg University of Education with the thesis "Needs of secondary school youths - empirical explorations and approaches to an educational theory of needs" and thus acquired the venia legendi for educational science.

In 2005 Mägdefrau was appointed professor for general didactics and teaching research at the University of Paderborn , and since 2007 she has held the professorship for secondary school education and didactics at the University of Passau .

Focus

Mägdefrau focuses on secondary school pedagogy, in particular on introducing students to the first state examination. In addition, she is working primarily on the introduction of the model course Bachelor of Education and Master of Education, which is unique in Bavaria, for teaching at secondary schools. Another focus is teacher training. She heads the area of ​​empirical teacher training and school development research at the Center for Teacher Education and Subject Didactics.
