Reconversão is a documentary of the US director Thom Andersen from the year 2012 .

action

The film Reconversão (German: Conversion) is subtitled with the sentence: um filme de Thom Andersen sobre a arquitetura de Eduardo Souto de Moura (German: "A film by Thom Andersen about the architecture of Eduardo Souto de Moura"). The main focus is on the mostly granite works of Moura in northern Portugal.

Using 17 projects, the film portrays the work of the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura . Today's recordings and some archive material are accompanied by quotations from Moura, who at the end of a conversation also has his own say. The result is a cross-section of Moura's work, his views and methods.

production

The film was commissioned for the 20th anniversary of the Curtas Vila do Conde short film festival . Technically, Andersen combines the proto-cinema of the beginning with the hyper-realism of Dsiga Wertow . Andersen only filmed two frames per second and used an animation based on Muybridge , which enables a higher resolution and increased attention to the natural elements of the images, such as running water or trees and bushes.

The film was released on DVD in 2014, as the first in a series of DVD releases that the Curtas Vila do Conde festival is putting out in collaboration with the Fnac chain .
